This is the Go Cruise Throttle Control.  It is an el cheapo 'cruise control'.  It works quite well, and literally takes seconds to install.  Roll the Go Cruise forward when the throttle is open and it butts against the brake lever, preventing the throttle from closing.  Roll the throttle forward to disengage.  Easy Peasy.  I might adjust in another mm or so of free play on the throttle cable just to make sure I get full closure, but haven't had an issue so far.

That doesn't look like a very motorcycle-friendly tool.
Uh-oh, whats going on here?  Tiny cup holder?
Nope, I'm installing a 12v accessory plug to power my GPS, cell phone, toaster, or whatever.
I have it connected to a Battery Tender extension cable so it is unswitched, straight to the battery.  Is that better, or worse than having it switched?  Beats me, but that is how I'm rolling on this one.  I did the same thing on the mighty, mighty VX800 to no ill effect.
Will the waterproof cap remain water tight, or will it fill up with water and pop fuses every time it rains?  The 8-ball was indifferent when I asked it.

Thought I'd toss this out: At my last fill up I calculated 55mpg.  The trip computer was pessimistic at something like 52mpg.  I wonder how much it will drop when I add the side bags?

Chances are pretty flippin slim that I'll record every fill up, but when I think of it I will post mileage results.

Went to the dealership to get my accessories installed today.  They were missing two essential parts for the side case mounting hardware.  It is on order now. They were apologetic about the mess up.  No big deal, says I, stuff happens.
Due to a time crunch I wound up just getting the heated grips installed.

Since I'm now a Stromtrooper it only made sense to strip the chrome Suzuki "S" off the tank and add a subdued Emperial ensignia.

So I've got 195 miles on the bike when I notice a giant flippin nail in my back tire.
I bought a plug kit, thinking I'd plug it and monitor it closely for the next 6 thousand miles or so.  Instead, when I was trying to use the awl to clean out the hole for repair, I can't get it all the way in.  The nail went in almost horizontally and didn't pierce the carcass. Now I'll just have to monitor it closely for, oh the next 6 thousand miles or so.
At any rate, I have a plug kit and motorcycle sized 12V air pump under my seat now.  Cheap insurance.

Me and the DL went out for a little ride today.  Weather was nice, traffic was lite, farm roads were dirt. Huh?  Yep, I took my shiny new bike off road.  OK, it wasn't exactly off road.  Across a farmers fields and a couple hard packed, gravel covered  roads.  I think I'm going to stick to pavement 95% of the time.  This thing isn't exactly a dirt bike!

You can see my GPS mount in this pic.  I've ordered a Garmin Nuvi 550.  It isn't exactly a "motorcycle" GPS, but it is waterproof and will get the job done.  Now I just need to decide how/where to power it.

After the 30-ish mile ride from the dealer I was hooked.  Heated grips, hand guards, center stand, and hard bags (side only) are on order.

March 23, 2012 I purchased a 2012 Suzuki DL650 from Performance Plus in Memphis, TN.  I picked it up the following day, and it took less than 60 seconds of riding to decide that it will be a great, long term bike.  My other bike, a 1993 VX800, is wonderful in its own way, too, but I am going to part ways with it.
This will essentially be a spot for me to keep a maintenance log, as I am terrible, TERRIBLE about recording things like that.
